Overview

The complete picture before you commit.

Honest, plain-English explanation no jargon, no hard sell. We want you to understand exactly what we're recommending and why.

What it is

Alarm service and repair covers fault diagnosis, battery and component replacement, sensor recalibration, control panel reprogramming, signal-path testing, and annual preventative maintenance. We service every major UK brand Texecom, ADT, Honeywell, Yale, Pyronix, Visonic and more even if we didn't install the original system.

Who it's for

Homeowners and businesses with an existing alarm that's beeping, faulting, false-triggering or simply hasn't been serviced in years. Tenants inheriting systems from previous owners. Insurers demanding proof of annual servicing. And property managers maintaining alarms across portfolios.

When you need it

Annually as a minimum most insurers and the British Standard BS EN50131 require yearly service for graded systems. Immediately if you have a flashing fault light, repeated false alarms, a beeping panel, or your system fails to arm. Don't wait until the system completely dies small faults are cheap to fix; complete replacements aren't.

Why professional install matters

Alarm components age. Backup batteries last 3–5 years, sensors collect dust, control panels lose programming during power cuts, and wireless devices need supervision. A serviced alarm is a working alarm and one your insurer recognises. We've rescued hundreds of systems other engineers gave up on; with 40 years of brand-agnostic experience, we know where to look.

What's at stake

What happens when this gets ignored.

False alarms keep triggering

Repeated false alarms from old or contaminated PIRs lead neighbours to ignore the siren. The system stops protecting you.

Insurance cover at risk

Most insurers require a current service certificate. Without one your claim can be reduced or refused entirely.

Beeping panel drives you mad

A constant beep usually means a low backup battery easy fix, but ignored long enough it kills the panel and means a full replacement.

System won't arm or set

A single faulty sensor, broken contact or low wireless battery can prevent the entire system arming leaving your property unprotected.

What an Annual Alarm Service Includes

A full annual service to BS EN50131 standard includes: visual inspection of every device, walk-test of every zone, backup battery load-test (replaced if voltage low), inspection of bell-box and tamper switches, control panel firmware check, signalling path test (broadband, GSM and dual-path where fitted), wireless device signal-strength check and battery audit, keypad and reader test, log download and review, and finally a service certificate issued for your records and insurer.

Common Faults We Repair

Beeping control panels (almost always a low backup battery 3 to 5 year service-life). Tamper alarms (loose covers on sensors, bell-box or panel). PIR false triggers (dust, spider activity, faulty sensor or pet movement on non-pet PIRs). Wireless device 'low battery' or 'lost supervision' warnings. Failed signalling paths (broken broadband, expired SIM, or ISP changes). Programming wiped after power cuts on older panels. Keypad failures. Door contact misalignment.

Brands We Service

Texecom (Premier, Premier Elite, Veritas, Capture). Honeywell (Galaxy, Domonial, Accenta, Ademco). ADT-installed legacy systems including ADE Optima/Accenta and ProSys. Yale (HSA series, Easy Fit, Smart Living, IA series). Pyronix (Enforcer, Matrix, Castle Euro). Visonic (PowerMax, PowerG). Scantronic (9651, 9751). Menvier (TS series, 9000 series). EuroTech, Risco, DSC and most other brands sold in the UK in the last 30 years.

Upgrading Older Systems

Where a legacy system has reached end-of-life (typically 12–15 years for residential, 8–10 for commercial) we'll explain honestly whether it's worth continuing to repair. Often we can preserve existing wiring, sensors and bell-box while upgrading just the control panel and keypad bringing a tired system into the modern era for a fraction of a full replacement.

Take Over Existing Maintenance Contracts

If your current alarm company has been bought out, gone bust, become unresponsive or just keeps putting prices up, we can take over your maintenance regardless of who installed the system originally. Most takeovers happen seamlessly within a single visit.

Emergency Call-Out

For active faults (system in alarm, sounder won't reset, property unprotected after a break-in) we offer same-day or next-day attendance across the North West. Engineers carry universal test equipment and the most common spare parts on the van.

FAQ

Straight answers, no jargon.

Question not answered here? Call 01457 321102.

How much does an alarm service cost in the High Peak or Manchester?+

Annual alarm servicing starts from £69. Repair callouts and parts are quoted on the spot, fixed-price, before any work proceeds.

How often should my alarm be serviced?+

Annually for residential systems and twice yearly for monitored commercial systems this is also the requirement of BS EN50131 and most insurance policies for graded alarms.

Can you service the brand of alarm I have?+

Yes we service every major UK brand including Texecom, Honeywell, Yale, ADT, Pyronix, Visonic, Scantronic and Menvier, even systems 20+ years old.

My alarm keeps beeping what's wrong?+

In 90% of cases this is a low backup battery (typically 3–5 year life). Easy and inexpensive to replace, but if left long enough the battery damages the control panel.

Will I get a certificate for my insurance?+

Yes every annual service includes a dated certificate suitable for insurer compliance, covering visual inspection, zone testing, battery load-test and signalling verification.

Do you offer emergency callouts?+

Yes for active faults or post-break-in attendance we offer same-day or next-day visits across the North West. Call 01457 321102 to arrange.

How long does an alarm system last?+

With annual servicing, residential systems typically last 12–15 years and commercial systems 8–10. Backup batteries need replacing every 3–5 years; wireless device batteries 5–10 years.

Can you take over my existing maintenance contract?+

Absolutely we regularly take on systems from companies that have been acquired, become unresponsive or stopped servicing certain brands. The takeover is usually completed in a single visit.
